Efficient, sustainable, and equitable mobility remains a cornerstone of modern society — connecting people, enabling trade, and fostering socio-economic growth. Modern-day transportation systems, however, face unprecedented challenges: they must ensure effectiveness and accessibility for all, while responding to global challenges such as climate change, public health, safety, and rapid technological transformation.
To address these challenges, innovation is essential. New methods in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, the Internet of Things, and advanced business models offer opportunities to redesign mobility in ways that enhance efficiency, resilience, and sustainability. At the same time, transport research must integrate human and societal dimensions, ensuring that future mobility solutions are inclusive and equitable.

EWGT2026 will be hosted in Kraków, Poland — a city of rich history and innovation. We cordially invite you to join the international community of experts to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and shape the future of transportation systems.

SCOPE & TOPICS

The EURO Working Group on Transportation (EWGT) 28th Annual Conference in September 2026 brings together researchers and practitioners to advance the application of operations research methods, mathematical and statistical models, and computational algorithms in transport analysis, planning, and operations. While rooted in analytical approaches, the conference also embraces broader perspectives, providing a platform to explore the interplay between technology, society, and policy. Submissions are welcome across a range of areas related to transportation science, broadly classified below for convenience, including (but not limited to):
  • Analytical and data-driven methods: traffic and network modelling, demand modelling and forecasting, environmental modelling, data analytics, AI applications, IoT for mobility, human factors and travel behaviour.
  • Planning and policy: climate resilience, sustainable and equitable mobility, safety and public health, rail systems, air and maritime systems, connected and autonomous mobility, decision-support tools.
  • Operations & management: vehicle and traffic control, logistics operations, infrastructure operations and management, network optimisation.
  • Innovative mobility concepts: smart cities, digital twins, advanced air mobility, alternative fuels, transportation 4.0/5.0, emerging and disruptive mobility solutions.
